English Antique Jewellery and Ebay

This morning we are going to indulge a guilty pleasure vie ebay. It is not often one can find the glorious amount of quality antique pieces, the likes of those we will explore today via our A++ instagram account to follow @englishantiquejewellery.  I stumbled across this jewellery shop and have become a bit smitten.  I think they appeal to me because their finds remind me of those precious little unique antique relics I found as a young child, which led me to collect vintage jewelry. They seem to have bottled that magic feeling of discovery.  The owner’s eye is such that they present the shopper with the opportunity to explore the world of true antique jewelry in all mediums. Pieces from the Victorians and the 1920s, lush silvers, and detailed artifacts. Now, since one has to be on top of such auctions to get a chance at the prize, following their weekly sales via ig is a must.  The shop is accessible via eBay only, auctions straight to us from the UK where they reside. The shop has been in business since 2009. To be honest had I discovered them via eBay, the shop’s impact would have been somewhat lost. The array of photography and finds they post on instagram is really impressive and allows them to shine. They post lovely compositions and unique pieces daily. Thus, today’s Jewelry Report Card winner is really for my flea market and antique jewelry lovers, who are always on the hunt for a great score. This secret source will not disappoint. So without further ado:

Sunday Jewelry Report Card: Ushering in Spring with Madina Visconti Jewelry

Today’s jewelry report card selection is almost like a necessary ritual to bring forth spring. Her pieces seemingly contain a sort of earthly power held in the enamels and forms.  Let’s just say I now know what I want to wear to the May pole and the city next time I’m there. The A++ jewelry report card goes to Madina Visconti di Modrone. She is based in Milan and her jewelry roots itself in both modern form/sculpture, and natural incarnations. It feels like her enamels are catching the perfect Italian light and freezing it for us. Her work is also playful, the right scale, and has movement.  Her mother Lucio Fontana, was a jeweler and she remembers as well as draws from her childhood experiences.  The pieces are not fine jewelry in the sense of gold, but are on that level, yet allow the jewelry lover to indulge.  Each piece is made in 24k gilt bronze and silver.  The family talent runs deep with her sister Osanna also creating objects and furniture.

She has a boutique in Milan’s historical center on Via Santa Maria for anyone who is in the area.  The jewelry designer has been featured in Vogue, W as one to watch, and worked on collaborations with Matthew Chevallard founder of a footwear brand, as well as designers presenting at Milan fashion week.  As Vogue mentioned in their article about Madina, she made a series of bronze pieces for the shoes including Italian food elements such as pasta. While her new collection is like the Garden of Eden in spring, other works by her include snakes, thorns, and harder edged themes.  I like her mix of both sides of life.

Her work can be found in her Milan boutique and on-madinavisconti.com as well as Artemest.com.

Dawson’s Creek Cast Reunites and We Find Joey an Engagement Ring

The cast of TV obsession Dawson’s Creek, that ran from 1998-2003, has reunited! Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, the once angst-y teen TV stars turned adult screen actors came together to celebrate the hit show’s 20th anniversary with a photo shoot for the magazine. It’s the first time they’ve all been in the same room in two decades, but watching the group interview no one seemed to miss a beat.

The attending castmates—which included Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Michelle Williams, James Van Der Beek, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe, Busy Philipps, Mary Beth Peil—discussed details about the show’s creative decisions like Joey choosing Pacey in the end. Although Katie nervously faltered in answering whether she agreed with the love triangle’s conclusion, we’re #TeamPacey all the way. But, it did get us thinking about what Joey’s engagement bling would have looked like from each of her great loves.

We imagine a Joey and Dawson engagement ring to be statement-making. As the do-the-right-thing type who stayed the straight-and-narrow path to love, we think Dawson would have gone the traditional route with a white-gold or silver band and large centerpiece diamond. The cushion cut is similar to the diamond earrings he gave Joey to wear in the Anti-Prom episode (pictured above), but he might up the stakes with eye-catching sapphire accent stones.

Traditional is not a word we’d use to describe Pacey Witter. He was a lover and a fighter, who traveled a winding road…usually to Joey. In the same Anti-Prom episode Pacey comments that Joey’s earrings are not her and too “gaudy”. He says the bracelet she’s wearing, which belonged to her mother, is “simple and elegant” like her. So we imagine a romantic, timeless engagement ring that, although not gaudy, is still unique—a floral design in mixed metal with a soft, baby blue diamond.

Here is a fun shopping list of vintage and antique engagement rings that they might have picked:

Jewelry Alert, Emerald City: Budget Friendly Alternatives to the Striking Gemstone

The Golden Globes 2018 gave us a lot, like a rousing speech from Oprah Winfrey while accepting the Golden Globes’ annual Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award. Female solidarity through a dress code of all black.

Celebrities reportedly collaborated on the statement-making all black color scheme in December, but we’re wondering if there weren’t also whispers among some of the ladies about going green with their jewelry. Zoe Kravitz, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Issa Rae, and Debra Messing were a few of the actresses who brought emerald city to the carpet. It’s a less featured color so it was kind of perfect for the unique tone at this year’s Globes, popping against the various beautiful range of skin tones.  But…emerald’s do cost top dollar. Don’t let that discourage you though! We’ve got great options that can help you get the look for less. Shop the new power color below in an array of glamorous choices!

And tell us, would you go green with the emerald trend?

The Best Bling from the Golden Globes 2018 Red Carpet Blackout

Celebrities are usually out to make a fashion statement when they walk the red carpet. But, for the Golden Globes 2018 tv and movie stars, as well as other notable names, used fashion to make a statement. Being called the the “blackout“, female and male attendees wore black in protest for equal rights and solidarity with sexual assault victims. The #timesup was a cry of support throughout instagram. With everyone in a single color to represent many voices, the ladies each signed their declarative support of women’s rights uniquely with their jewelry. And here are the ones that caught our eye the most.

Get The Look: How Future Brit-Bride Meghan Markle Does Accessories.

With just a few weeks left until the New Year, Meghan Markle just became the hottest topic of 2017. Fans know her as associate Rachel Zane from the hit TV show Suits. Some may know her as well um….Prince Harry’s fiance. Following the recent news of their engagement, the media thrust Meghan Markle into the spotlight. She revealed in a BBC interview that she’s not used to so much public attention despite being an actress. Now her career, ethnicity, relationship-history, and family are the subject of a lot of scrutiny: is she British royal material or isn’t she, blah blah – Simply put we trust a lady whose favorite accessory is a beagle named Bogart.

First and foremost she is…one stylish gal! And she documents all in her fashion blog Meghan’s Mirror. We checked out how the most famous American girl in Britain does style via her Instagram account. Two words: American-Sportswear.

OOTD

Think the iconic white button-down. It seems to be a go-to piece for Meghan’s daytime looks. She often pairs it with a skinny jean or pencil skirt and classic pointed pumps. Not surprising since these separates make a super comfortable, practical, and versatile ootd. Get the look by accessorizing them with a nondescript handbag and one piece of understated arm candy.

Red Carpet

There are a more aspect to the bride-to-be’s red carpet style though. Fans of Meghan’s fashion might notice that she keeps her hemlines short—midi to mini—showing off her fit legs. She tends to skip prints in favor of solids with textured detailing. The look is usually finished with a clutch. She seems to love classics as her go to jewelry, stacked rings or bracelets, small diamond necklaces and even a watch…She likes a little sparkle, and keeps a simps foundation for her accessories. meghan marble red carpet get the look
