Regal circa 1815-1830s stunningly cut 800 silver paste stone parure in the original clam shaped box. In 1809, after Napoleon’s campaign in Egypt, a book called, The Description of Egypt was released and the rosetta stone was found in 1822…. Such design influences are reflected here in the ancient Egyptian style lotus shaped elements. The construction is superb and it is a stunning example of early paste stone jewelry. The brooch is intact, although the larger center paste stone may have been added afterwards replacing a smaller one by using one of the earring stones. Earrings may have been converted later to screw backs, marked (9ct). As I am not sure of the changes to these two pieces during its familial history and use, I wanted to mention this possibility. However; it is amazing that the set is still together in the original box. From a family collection which has never been on the market before now. The necklace appears to be original in design and is exquisite. Of French or English origin. 16″ long. Each lotus is 2″ long x about 1.25″ wide. Offers considered.
