Fabulous oversized jeweled 1970s Kenneth Jay Lane Jewels of Fantasy mermaid brooch. She is quite impressive at 5″LX 3″. The mermaid alone is 3″wide by 4.5″long. She features lovely glass pearl droplets and deep red garnet toned glass cabochons as well as turquoise, yellow, coral glass accents. She seems to hold a mirror in one hand and her long locks in the other. This piece is rare and was purchased in the late 60s-70s. The Signature is KJL copyright indicating a date of about this time. I cannot currently even find any images or exact matches online. It could be a couture or limited edition. This comes from a New York estate and was purchased in the city.
Condition is Very Good- she has one pearl dangle with a slight crack at the top only in the finish. Stable about 1mm mark. Her elbow seems to show gold finish underneath the silver, this maybe the shading affect, the pins in the pearl dangles have turned a dark dark brass color a few have bit of green can be which can seen on the top hook area. All stones intact. Completely wearable!
